Dental Treatments in Leeds

Many people would call this family dentistry. We provide a full range of routine dentistry to maintain the health of your teeth. Having been at the practice since 2000 I have a huge amount of experience in general dentistry which means that I know what does and does not work. It also means that I work hard to maintain relationships with patients. At Rawdon Lights dental care we feel that our patients are our family and we love to catch up with them. We care about you.

Take Care Of Your Dental Health

Whether you need professional cleaning or a smile-correcting procedure, come to us for help. We will strive to ensure your needs are met, and that your teeth look beautiful. Our aim at Rawdon Lights dental care is to improve both the health of your mouth and your overall health by approaching things in a holistic way. The bugs in your mouth are surrounded by a protective layer and together make what is called biofilm. Biofilm causes a reaction in your gums which has a causative effect on heart disease, kidney disease, bowel cancer, dementia and diabetes amongst other conditions. By breaking down the biofilm we can help to protect you, not only from gum disease, but also from a range of systemic illness. Our holistic approach to dentistry helps you through body and mind.

We follow a comprehensive 12 step procedure to ensure your teeth are examined completely.

Hobbies & Habits

Your dental health can have a significant impact on various hobbies and habits, especially those that involve the use of your mouth, such as playing musical instruments, singing, or public speaking. As a player in a brass band, I understand first-hand how crucial your teeth are. Whether you're an instrumentalist, vocalist, or public speaker, we can ensure that any dental treatment is carefully integrated to support your passion and professional needs.

Moreover, we all have habits that involve our teeth, such as nail-biting, teeth grinding, or using them as tools to open packaging. These actions can be detrimental to your oral health over time. At Rawdon Lights Dental Practice, we can advise you on how these habits affect your teeth and offer alternatives that are less likely to cause damage, helping you maintain a healthy smile while still enjoying your favourite activities.

Mouth Cancer

Mouth cancer is a very unpleasant disease to be avoided if possible. The aggravating factors for mouth cancer include tobacco use, alcohol intake and HPV infection. We routinely screen for mouth cancer as part of a dental examination both to lay your mind at rest, and to help early detection and treatment. Please call us to discuss this.

Health-Focused Dentistry

Our aim at Rawdon Lights dental care is to improve both the health of your mouth and your overall health by approaching things in a holistic way. If you had suggested to me when going through dental school that I may become diabetic I’d have laughed. Now that I’m middle aged and have seen life, I value the protection that changing factors in  your life can provide and I want to help others to do this.

Gill, my hygienist, and I have both completed additional training to help us to identify different lumps and bumps on our patients. Over the years we have spotted a number of tumours which we have referred on immediately for removal, helping to prevent significant morbidity and soothe the worries of our clients. If you have a concern about a lump/bump/ulcer we’d rather you asked us so that we can lay your mind at rest, or expedite treatment if needed.
